It was quite good I think, expect the ending part. Too much drama and kinda inappropriate music. I believe Murakami is meant to be read in silence.
Some of the images though make you recall actual passages from the books and tend to carry the same mood. I’m always very fascinated when I come across this figure, maybe because the stories he tells are different from our side of the world. For this precise reason i believe he is not an easy ready. I understand and it makes sense that he is commercial in Japan, but I really believe him to be something much more outside his borders.
He is one of the few I believe we are left with that writes literature with such emotion and so figuratively at the same time. Nothing is random when he writes because he carries this sophisticated and well played creepiness, as if he was a character himself..one create by E.A. Poe maybe.
I discovered him last year and have read almost all of his books so far, while hopelessly waiting for 1Q84 to com out. I guess I was expecting something else, because the title brings in mind different stories, different people, different times…But lesson learned. Never suppose what you should expect from Murakami, cause until the very last minute I am sure he does not know either.
